OBi202 Access to Internal Web Configuration via LAN IP

I believe that both the manual and the OBi website indicate that the OBi202's web UI can ALWAYS be accessed via the LAN IP but that for WAN IP access it must first be enabled in order to work.
With the most recent firmware update installed, it appears to me that the LAN IP will not provide access unless WAN IP access has also been enabled. This appears to contradict all known documentation relating to the OBi202.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
